Iran Float Glass

Clear float glass is the base sheet most other flat glass is made from. It is drawn flat on a float line, which is what gives it a smooth, distortion-free surface and high light transmission.

It is used for window panes and double glazing, mirrors, kitchen cabinet glazing, sliding doors, glass partitions, picture frames and furniture glass doors. Processed further it becomes laminated glass or tempered glass; laminated float glass is the usual choice for vehicle windscreens.

Sheets go out in wooden boxes with iron supports, which make handling and lashing straightforward, or on bulk racks when a shipment is large enough that packing weight drives the freight. Sheets are supplied at standard size or cut to your dimensions, with holes and bevels done to your drawing.

Sheets are sold at standard size or cut to your list. The minimum order is one 20 ft container, which is about 2,400 m² in 4 mm, and a confirmed order is normally ready in 7 to 15 days.

Paying less for freight on a float glass order

East Azerbaijan, where the glass is loaded, sits on the main transit roads, so a land shipment runs fairly directly to Turkey, the Caucasus and south-eastern Europe instead of taking the longer sea route. Land freight also carries no dock fees and no freight-forwarder administration fee, which is why most of our Asian and European counterparts choose it. Rail is available on the same corridors.

6 mm is one of the most requested float glass thicknesses. It is used for window panes, often as the outer pane of double-glazed units, because it is stiffer than 4 mm glass. After processing it is also used for:

• Tabletops, cabinets and shelves, usually tempered
• Laminated glass: two sheets bonded with a PVB interlayer that holds the fragments together if the glass breaks
• Glass partitions
• Balcony glazing and sliding doors, after tempering

6 mm sheets are supplied in the standard sizes listed above or cut to size, and are also available as tempered glass and laminated glass.

What determines the 6 mm glass price?

The price of 6 mm float glass depends on production cost, packaging, the delivery term and freight to your port. We quote EXW, FOB or CFR (C&F), so the same sheets carry a different price depending on who arranges the shipping.
